Joint Policing Committee
The Garda Siochana Act 2005 provides for the setting up of Joint Policing Committees (JPCs) in each local authority area.
The purpose of the JPCs is to provide a forum whereby the local authority, senior Garda officers for the area, members of the Oireachtas and representatives of the community and voluntary sector can consult, discuss and make recommendations regarding the policing of their area. The JPCs will operate on a co-operative basis with the minimum of formality. It is hoped that the partnership approach will work to the benefit of all members of the community.
